The Blackhawks 14A team faced off against the Tri Valley Blue Devils, California Wave, and Vacaville Jets, going 3-0 to earn 1st place in their pool and a spot in the division playoffs. They met the San Jose Jr Sharks, who had gone 2-0-1, finishing 2nd in their division, and beat them 5-2 in the semi-final game to advance to the finals. The San Francisco Sabercats beat the Tri Valley Blue Devils in the other semi-final game and faced off against the Blackhawks Sunday afternoon.
The Hawks outshot the Sabercats 28-14, and were able to capitalize on three consecutive power play opportunities to win the game 6-1. Connor Wilson led the team with 6 goals throughout the tournament, and goalie Hunter Oblander led the division by stopping 94.7% of the shots he faced.
The victory earns the team a spot in the Silver Stick finals, held in Port Huron, Michigan, January 10-13, 2019.
Blackhawks 14A Silver Stick Champions
The 10B team went 2-1 in their division, outscoring their opponents 20-7, but lost by a goal to the San Jose Jr Sharks in the semi-finals. The Jr Sharks went on to win the division, beating the Vacaville Jets 9-0.
The 14B team went 1-1-1 in their division, including a 7-7 tie against the Arizona Jr Sun Devils, before losing a rematch with the Jr Sun Devils in the semi-finals. The Jr Sun Devils went on to win the division, beating the Tri Valley Blue Devils 3-2 in a shootout.
Overall, the club's five participating teams went 13-7-2.
