There were 12 Summerhawks teams this year, comprised of veteran Blackhawks and other players from around the Bay Area. After just a few short weeks of practices, most teams headed to Anaheim to participate in the Jr. Ducks Memorial Day Shootout.
18U AA (Mendez, in the Tinseltown Carmen Starr tournament) went 2-1 in round-robin play to secure a spot in the playoffs, where they won all three games to take the Championship game against Tahoe Hockey Academy.
14U A was 4-0 in division play, shut out their opponent in the semi-finals, but fell to Medicine Hat in the finals.
14U B went 3-1 in regular play, and suffered an OT loss in the finals to the “Bay Area” team.
12U A was undefeated at 3-0-1 in division play, beat their opponent in the semi-finals, but lost in the finals in a shootout with Pasadena.
12U B entered the semi-finals as the 4th place seed, meeting the #1 Bay Harbor team who shutout every opponent in the tournament.
10U A was undefeated 3-0-1 in round robin play, and lost by one goal in the semi-finals to the Jr Kings.
