Blackhawks Travel for MLK Tournaments

Most of the club's teams travelled to Phoenix, AZ, to compete in the Arizona Cactus Cup Tournament over the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend.

The 10UA team was undefeated heading into the championship game in the Majors division after facing teams from Arizona, Texas, and Alaska.  They lost to the also-undefeated Tri Valley Blue Devils.

The 10UB team made it to the championship game in the Minors division after facing four teams from Colorado.  They lost to the undefeated Jr. Pioneers from Denver, CO.

The 12UAA team played in the Elite division with 11 other teams from Alberta and British Columbia (Canada), California, Colorado, Texas, and Arizona.

The 12UA team finished up their tournament with a tie against the undefeated Jr Sun Devils.  Their division included teams from Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona.

The 12UB team played all Colorado teams in their 9-team division.

The 14UAA team was undefeated heading into the championship game, having allowed only 2 goals through 4 games.  They lost to the San Jose Jr Sharks in the finals.  The team had the top 2 goal scorers (Bordegaray, Serverian) and the best goalie save percentage (Nishigaya) in the tournament.

The 14UA team played in a 12-team division that represented Alaska, California, Colorado, Texas, and Arizona.

The 14UB division included teams from British Columbia (Canada), California, Colorado, and Arizona.  The Blackhawks made it to the semi-finals, losing to the Aspen Leafs.

Both 16UAA teams played in a 14-team division with teams from Alberta and British Columbia (Canada), California, Oregon, Texas, and Arizona.  The 16UAA1 team were division champions, beating the undefeated Mission AZ Ice team.
