12U-B Win NORCAL, 10U-B get to Finals

Both teams head to the State Championships in April!

12U-B Win NORCAL

The 12U-B team won the NORCAL Championship last weekend in San Jose!

The team, which had gone 11-3-2 in the regular season under Head Coach Michael Watson, played three round-robin games in less than 22 hours.  They went 3-0, beating the Tri Valley Blue Devils (3-2), the San Mateo Black Stars (1-0), and the San Jose Jr Sharks (5-3).  The team outshot their opponents 111-66.  Adish Joshi led the way with 3 goals and one assist.  Goaltender Jackson Castaldi stopped 45 of 50 shots (90%), with a 1.67 GAA and a shutout.  

The Blue Devils finished round-robin play at 2-2, having lost to the Blackhawks and Black Stars, and beating the Jr Sharks twice.  This was good enough to earn a spot to face the Blackhawks in the championship game.

In the finals, the Blackhawks outshot Tri Valley 30-16 to win 3-2.  Both Ethan Zhu and Asa Grant had two-point games, each with a goal and an assist.  Goaltender Castaldi had an 87.5 SV%.

As one of the top two teams in NORCAL, the 12U-2 Blackhawks will head to Riverside for the CAHA (State) Championships from April 1-3.

10U-B Play in NORCAL Championship Game


The 10U-B team made it to the NORCAL Championship last weekend in San Jose!

The team, which went 9-6-1 in the regular season, played three round-robin games in less than 20 hours.  They went 2-1, beating the Santa Rosa Flyers (3-2) and the Cupertino Cougars (4-3), but falling to the Tri Valley Blue Devils (1-5).  Kara Clemens led the team with 5 goals, including a hat trick against Cupertino.    Goaltender Hannah Yarbrough stopped 65/75 shots (86.7%), with a 3.33 GAA.  This earned them a spot in the semi-finals.

The Hawks faced off against the 1-2 Santa Rosa Flyers in the semi-finals.  The game was tied 4-4 after regulation, but Kara Clemens cemented another hat trick by getting an OT goal.

The team fell to the 2-1 Tri Valley Blue Devils in the Championship game (3-5), where Kara Clemens got yet another hat trick.

As one of the top two teams in NORCAL, the 10U-2 Blackhawks will head to Riverside for the CAHA (State) Championships from April 1-3.
