This is Victor's first stint as head coach with the Blackhawks, after assisting the Squirt B team during the Summerhawks program. He began coaching hockey prior to the birth of his 2 children (both current Blackhawks). After several successful seasons in-house, he was asked to coach the Sharks Squirt travel team, leading them to a NorCal Championship in '04. Shortly following, his son was born and he took time off before returning to coaching both of his children's in-house teams over a 5 year span. All told, he has over 10 years of hockey coaching experience at the Mite, Squirt and PeeWee level.
Erik started playing hockey at 5 years old. His 2004 Squirt B team won the NORCAL Championship. He joined the Blackhawks in Bantam A, with that team winning the CAHA state championship. He would finish his youth career in 2011 in Midget 18AA, having played in several more NORCAL and CAHA championships and countless tournaments. While playing, he learned under many top local coaches, including Derek Eisler (former San Jose Sharks Assistant coach), Cathy Andrade (Power Skating coach), Norbert Tydingco (former Blackhawks coach who was a part of the National Champions Pee Wee AA) to name a few. These coaches all provided a positive influence as teachers of the game and helped him succeed as a youth player. After leaving youth hockey, Erik looked for a new way to stay in the game he loved. He ref'ed with IHONC, but saw coaching as an area with the most impact by teaching the future generations of hockey and continuing to grow the game.
