Tier II (AA) hockey is the most competitive program offered by the Blackhawks. Teams usually practice three times per week (including video and strength/conditioning sessions), and play several games on CAHA weekends, facing opponents at their level from across the state. Teams may qualify for state and national championships.
In 2016-17, Blackhawks AA teams finished the CAHA season with a combined 58% win percentage. The 14AA and 16AA teams qualified for CAHA Playdowns and both went on to States. The 16AA team won the State Championship, and competed in the USA Hockey Nationals.
Prior to last season, 11 Blackhawks AA teams advanced to CAHA Playdowns over a 4 year period, with 2 teams advancing to the State Championships, and one bringing home the State title.
